Professor Sunday Samuel Oluyamo was born on the 30th of January, 1968 at Okeluse, Ose Local government area of Ondo State, Oluyamo had his elementary education at the Ikuobase Primary School, Ofunmwegbe Village, Ovia Local Government Area of Bendel State (now Edo State) from 1974 to 1979. He proceeded to Okeluse Anglican Grammar School (OAGS), Okeluse in 1979 and obtained the West African School Certificate (WASC) in 1984.
He obtained his Bachelor of Science B.Sc. (Hons) in Physics, Master of Science (M.Sc) Solid State Physics and Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) Condensed Matter Physics in 1990, 1998 and 2009 respectively from the Nigeria’s premier University of Ibadan. In his quest for in-depth knowledge in his chosen career, Prof. Oluyamo trained as a professional teacher at the prestigious Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife from 2000 to 2002 where he bagged the Post Graduate Diploma in Education (PGDE).
Professor Oluyamo started his academic career at the College of Education, Ikere-Ekiti, Ekiti State as a Graduate Assistant in 1992 and rose to the position of Lecturer II in 1998. His desire to be fully integrated into the academic circle engendered a very short period at the Adeyemi College of Education, Ondo, Ondo State from 1999 to 2000.
He joined the services of the Federal University of Technology, Akure in November 2000 as Lecturer II, and rose through the rank to become a professor in 2015. He has served the University in different capacities and held various positions of responsibilities.
He was at one time or the other Coordinator of Physics Electronics Option, Science Laboratory Technology (2004-2007),
Sub-Dean, School of Sciences (2009-2012), Coordinator, Postgraduate Seminar (2009-2011),
Member School of Sciences Examination Committee (2009-2011),

Pioneer Director, Technology Park and Incubation Centre (Tech-PIC) (2018-2022).
In addition, he was also Head, Department of Physical Sciences, Bells University of Technology, Ota, Ogun State, Nigeria while on sabbatical leave between 2011 and 2012.
He was appointed Chairman of the Technical Committee of the Technology Incubation Centre of the Federal Ministry of Science and Technology, Ondo State Centre in 2019.
Presently, he occupies the position of the Chairman, Nigeria Institute of Physics (NIP), Ondo State Chapter.
He has successfully trained and supervised over Twenty (20) Master and Eleven (11) Ph.D. candidates to completion. He is well travelled and an academic of repute.
Professor Oluyamo has also served as External Assessor and Examiner to various Universities in Nigeria and abroad. These include, Adekunle Ajasin University, Akungba Akoko; Olabisi Onabanjo University, Ago-Iwoye, Ogun State; Caleb University, Lagos; University of Ilorin, Ilorin, Kwara State; Adeyemi College of Education, Ondo. He has collaboration with Organization and Universities within and outside the country which includes Fintech Associates, Warrick University, Sheffield Hallam University (UK), Itemba Laboratory, South Africa and many others. He is currently a Collaborator and Senior Research Fellow to the Centre of Atmospheric Research (CAR), NASRDA, Abuja, Nigeria.
He is a member of a good number of professional bodies. Some of which are Science Teachers Association of Nigeria, Science Association of Nigeria, Nigeria Institute of Physics, Institute of Physics, African Nano Forum, etc.
Professor Oluyamo is married and blessed with children.
